Greater New Britain And Bristol Charities Ask For Your Help

A record number of nonprofits statewide — 290 — have listed their holiday needs through a searchable online database compiled by the Connecticut Council For Philanthropy and posted at http://www.holidaywishlist.CTphilanthropy.net. Community Action Agencies like the Bristol Community Organization (BCO) are among the organizations serving the Greater New Britain in the included in the Connecticut Council For Philanthropy's online database, "Ways To Share … A Holiday Wish List."

Summer youth jobs program slashed

The summer jobs program that served 120 Bristol-area youths last year will be cut back to 50 student workers this summer. The students who are accepted into the program work four days and have one day each week of classroom learning. They work on basic subjects like math and reading, he said, as well as job-seeking skills like writing a resume and handling an interview.
