Emilie Montgomery is the new director of the Community Renewal Team's Early Care and Education program.

Montgomery began her post on Jan. 28 but will be formally introduced at a March 6 public reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at CRT's Hartford offices at 555 Windsor St.

She succeeds Paul Copes, who retired last year.

Montgomery had served as director of quality assurance for the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project since 2001.

She also has held top positions at some of the largest migrant Head Start grantees in the U.S., including the Texas Migrant Council, Washington State Migrant Council, and United Migrant Opportunity Services.

CRT provides early child education programs to more than 1,400 pupils a year, including Head Start, in Hartford, Windsor, Bloomfield, Portland, Clinton, Middletown as well as delegates in East Hartford and Bristol. "Montgomery runs central CT's early-ed programs". February 21, 2012.
