CAFCA Brings Community Concerns to Capitol Hill

At the recent 2012 legislative conference of the National Community Action Foundation (NCAF), several representatives from Connecticut's Community Action Agencies participated in meetings with members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation to ensure that Connecticut's federal officials understand the positive impact of Community Action in their local communities, and to make our federal priorities clear so as to empower our elected officials to fight to maintain Community Action's powerful, client-centered, holistic approach for their constituents. CAFCA is grateful.

Mark Shriver

One highlight of the conference was a presentation by Mark Shriver [photo], the fourth son of the late Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Mark, who has authored a forthcoming book about his father, brought great humor, passion, and insight as he presented some key points from his book and took questions from the group. Another high point of the event was a speech by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, who shared his thoughts at his 25th NCAF conference appearance!
